ARMIE HAMMER

Date of Birth: August 28, 1986

Born in Los Angeles, Armand Douglas Hammer grew up in Dallas, Los Angeles and the Cayman Islands, where he was a student at Grace Christian Academy, a school his father founded.

Back in California, he attended Pasadena City College and the University of California, but dropped out to pursue a career in acting. In 2005, at the age of 19, Armie landed his first guest role on television in the series Arrested Development, followed by guest appearances on Veronica Mars and Desperate Housewives.

His film debut was playing an unnamed student in Flicka (2006), but he began to get noticed when he was cast in the lead role of Billy Graham in the indie film Billy: The Early Years, which received a limited release in the United States.

In 2009, Armie played recurring roles on two CW hit series: Gossip Girl and Reaper. The following year, he made it to the big leagues playing a double role as the Winklevoss twins in the critically-acclaimed major motion picture The Social Network, for which he won Best Supporting Actor from the Toronto Film Critics Association Awards as well as several ensemble awards with the rest of the cast.

Since then his career has taken off to new heights, playing Clyde Tolson in J. Edgar, directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Leonardo DiCaprio; and Prince Andrew Alcott in the Mirror Mirror (2012) opposite Julia Roberts as the Evil Queen and Lily Collins as Snow White. He recently acquired his biggest part to date as the title role in The Lone Ranger, co-starring with Johnny Depp who plays Tonto. More recently, he starred in The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (2015) alongside Henry Cavill, Nocturnal Animals (2016) starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Amy Adams, the reboot of the controversial 1915 film Birth of a Nation (2016), the crime drama Free Fire (2017) with Brie Larson, the thriller Mine (2017), and the animated flick Cars 3 (2017).
