JULIE DELPY

Date of Birth: December 21, 1969

A native of Paris, France, this actress brings a very interesting perspective to American film. Paired with her teachings from NYU's film school, it is no wonder that this talented actress has also been credited for her work in everything from directing to composing.

Having made her film debut in Jean-Luc Godard's Détective (1985) at the age of 14, Delpy has not stopped working. Following her César Award Nomination for Most Promising Actress in La Passion Béatrice (1987), the young French star used her prize money to pay for her first trip to the Big Apple, where she gained American fame through her role in Europa Europa (1990). Showing her flexibility as an actress, Delpy was required to speak fluent German for the role.

Throughout her career, Delpy has dabbled in many different areas of Hollywood, gaining relative success in each. Her biggest film successes include The Three Musketeers (1993), Killing Zoe (1993) and her role in Before Sunrise (1995) alongside Ethan Hawke and its sequel, Before Sunset (2004). Delpy made her directorial debut with Blah Blah Blah (1995), a short film that appeared at the Sundance Film Festival. Her second project, for which she co-produced the original score, as well as writing the script, directing and editing, was 2 Days in Paris (2007). She starred with Adam Goldberg, as well as her parents. If that wasn't impressive enough, Delpy is also a recording artist, having released her self-titled album, Julie Delpy, in 2003. Her other musical credits include singing Marc Collin's Lalala over the closing credits of her film 2 Days in Paris and having three songs from her album featured in Before Sunset.

Delpy wrote, directed, produced and starred in 2 Days in New York (2012) alongside her father, Albert Delpy, and comedian Chris Rock.

She has been in a relationship with German-composer Marc Streitenfeld since 2007 and the two have a son, Leo, born in 2009.
