Women Talking

Showtimes > Women Talking
duplicity
Synopsis:

In 2010, when the women of an isolated religious community discover who has been drugging and attacking them at night, they're given an ultimatum. Forgive them or leave.

When the men take the accused to the local authorities, the women don't know if the attackers will be imprisoned, or for how long. They get together to vote on whether to stay and forgive their attackers, stay and fight, or leave.

Ona (Rooney Mara) asks school teacher August (Ben Whishaw) to take notes. He's in love with her, and agrees. When the attackers were caught, Salome (Claire Foy), whose young daughter was also attacked, was angry enough to take a weapon and try to kill them, but she was stopped. Others, like Mariche (Jessie Buckley) and Greta (Sheila McCarthy), aren't sure what to do.

Based on the novel by Miriam Toews.
